Nairobi Hospital Master Plan
Master planner and architect for the hospital's main complex — a USD 670M campus of first-class medical, research and teaching facilities.
As master planner and architect, Karago & Associates led the design of The Nairobi Hospital's main complex. The campus delivers first-class medical services, medical research facilities and clinical teaching space within a single, legible plan.
The brief encompassed a new accident & emergency centre, a cancer centre, a new doctors' plaza, a state-of-the-art ICU, a clinical core, and accommodation for the school of nursing. The key design themes throughout were function, openness and patient comfort.
The work was delivered with a consultant team including Howard Humphreys on engineering services, Karkan Partnership as quantity surveyor, WSP Group Africa and GAPP — coordinated by the practice from master plan through to supervision on site.
